Ronnie Fieg x Puma R698 & RF698 Mid - "Sakura"
Ronnie Fieg continues his strong partnership with Puma for the release of his latest venture – The Sakura Project. This collection is comprised of a Trinomic-era staple-silhouette in the R698, as well as an all-new mid-top silhouette designed by Fieg, the RF698 Mid. Both unisex models feature colorways inspired by the remarkable simultaneous blooming of the sakura blossoms throughout Japan.
The R698 represents the beginning of this natural phenomenon, as it displays a light color palette. The upper is made from microperforated pigskin suede, which is colorblocked burgundy on the toe box, light pink amidst the quarter panels, and white for the vamp and collar. The lateral formstripe is scythed, thus exhibiting a petal-like effect. The Trinomic midsole unit features a soft gradient to complement the upper.
The RF698 Mid stands on the other side of the seasonal transition, utilizing a darker execution. This Ronnie Fieg-helmed silhouette updates the R698 by heightening it, while retaining its trainer sensibilities. The mid-cut collar features horizontal quilting, while a neoprene inner-sock is supplemented for the tech liner. The upper features a navy microperforated nubuck toe box, and a rich burgundy microperforated pigskin suede body. The Trinomic midsole unit displays a navy-to-white gradient, as well as a dual-colored splatter effect. The medial formstripe is navy 3M, adding panache to this daunting model.
Both models are accompanied by three sets of lace options and custom packaging. Each will release in tandem with the KITH “Sakura Project,” which includes all original KITH apparel, as well as a Kith x John Elliott + Co capsule collection. The entire KITH “Sakura Project” will release March 20th, exclusively at the KITH Tokyo Pop-Up located within the United Arrows & Sons Shibuya flagship store at 3-28-1 Jingumae, Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Japan. The pop-up shop will remain open from March 20 to March 23.
