Ronnie Fieg for New Balance 1300CL
Ronnie Fieg continues his longstanding relationship with New Balance as they bridge the gap between the past and present with the release of their 1300CL Capsule. The past is represented by the Made in USA 1300, marking Fieg’s second time working on the silhouette. The present is represented by the RC1300, a reimagined rendition of the 1300.
Fieg uses both models to pay homage to his favorite New Balance palette, the iconic CL (or Steel Blue) colorway, seen on the RC1300 and an inverted rendition applied to the 1300. Both models are a continuation of Kith and New Balance’s ongoing CL Program, which began earlier this year with the 990V2 and 998. Another detail seen on both styles is a mauve-colored outsole, which is the evolution of Fieg’s first collaborative 1300 which featured a salmon-colored outsole.
The Made in USA 1300 reimagines the iconic CL color-blocking by inverting it across the upper, while retaining key OG elements. The pigskin suede upper is accompanied by mesh panels and underlays, as well as dual-stacked reflective N logos. This model sits atop the classic 1300 ENCAP sole unit.
The RC1300 utilizes the original 1300 upper but updates it with a newly envision ENCAP Reveal sole unit. This new sole takes inspiration from the original 1300 sole and showcases the silhouette’s progression since the 1980’s, by emphasizing the original ABZORB cushioning which is traditional hidden. The outsole is also upgraded to a Vibram outsole which offers increased traction and a rugged look-and-feel. The upper is crafted from mesh and pigskin suede and is dressed in the OG CL color-blocking.
Other details seen on both models include co-branded tongue labels, asymmetrically branded heel tabs, and custom-printed insoles.
The Ronnie Fieg x New Balance 1300CL Capsule releases this Monday, August 24th, at 11AM EST on Kith.com. The only stores that will carry these models will be Kith’s Tokyo, Bergdorf Goodman, Selfridges, and Hirshleifers shops. The Made in USA 1300 retails for $180 USD and the RC1300 retails for $150 USD.
